What’s not to love about markets? Combining great food, shopping, music, and beautiful settings into one vibrant atmosphere after the next, markets are an ideal summer pastime. I Heart Market, Stamford Hill
Possibly Durban’s most famous and highly rated market, the I ? market has it all. Peruse through a plethora of locally made clothes, homeware and jewellery and grab a delicious meal all in one visit. Located right near the beachfront at Moses Mabhida Stadium, this market is a must for visitors and locals alike.

Open on the first Saturday of each month from 9a.m. to 2p.m.

Essenwood Craft Market, Berea Park
Shaded by trees and with a kiddies play area right alongside the food court, this market is ideal for families. With over 200 crafty stores to peruse and plenty of food to try out, this is a great summer Saturday activity for everyone – young and old.

The Morning Trade, Rivertown

Open on Sundays from 8a.m. to 1p.m.

The Stables Lifestyle Market
Transformed from old horse stables, these market stalls are a little different from the norm. Stroll through the lanes that are each named after a famous race horse while you browse the various items on offer. Also known as Durban’s Midnight Market, The Stables is open two nights a week, making it a great alternative to the usual restaurant dinner treat.

Open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6-9p.m. and on Sundays from 10a.m. to 5p.m.

The Litchi Orchard Market, Salt Rock
If you’re a sucker for live music, this market is a must. Tucked away in a beautiful Litchi Orchard, this is the ideal Friday night dinner spot. Peruse the stalls while you listen or sit on the lawn with something delicious so that you can soak in all the action.

Open on the second Saturday of each month from 9a.m. to 2p.m. and the last Friday of every month from 5-9p.m.
