Living in the Southern Suburbs
Cape Town’s southern suburbs are sheltered by the majestic Table Mountain and are known as leafy and green as well as affluent and close to good schools.
Stretching from the base of Table Mountain National Park are several leafy, largely upmarket areas which comprise the Southern Suburbs. Prominent suburbs in this area include Rondebosch, Bergvliet, Claremont, Constantia, Bishopscourt, Newlands, Observatory,
Mowbray, Tokai and Wynberg among others.
Spanning quite a large area, the Southern Suburbs are largely residential, although there are several shopping centres and plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and points of interest located here too.
There are also some office blocks and business hubs situated in certain areas of the Southern Suburbs as well as plenty of schools – several of which are rated as some of the best in the country. Home options range from affluent houses on large properties to smaller townhouses as well as apartments and blocks of flats.
With two of Cape Town’s main highways easily reachable from most areas in the Southern Suburbs, the area is relatively central, but far away enough from the city to provide space and quietness.
These suburbs are home to many families, couples of all ages as well as business people, the Southern Suburbs contain many of Cape Town’s most coveted homes and suburbs.
There are homes to suit the pockets of a wide variety of people.
