But what’s a weekend morning without a great breakfast? Whether you’re running, spectating or simply exploring these areas of Jozi, here are some of our recommendations for post-parkrun pitstops in Joburg.
Delta parkrun, Randburg
Delta Park’s cafe is ideal if you need a coffee as soon as you cross the finish line, but if you’re in the mood for a great eggs benedict and a location change, CNR Cafe on Buckingham Avenue and Rothesay Avenue will definitely satisfy your breaky cravings. If you’re keen to mingle with other runners, grab a coffee at Doppio Zero on Barry Hertzog Avenue – the official post-run meeting point for Delta parkrun participants.
Bronberrik parkrun, Centurion
The nearest coffee station is Blackwoods Pub in the Hennopsview Centre – here you can join your fellow runners for a chat and a much needed cuppa. But if you’re in desperate need of a wholesome breakfast and maybe even a pastry or two, Urban Bistro tucked away in Highveld Technopark is a great option.
Johannesburg Botanical Gardens parkrun
Maximise your time in this beautiful setting and stroll over to the Milkplum Cafe after your run. Situated in the centre of the gorgeous botanical gardens, the cafe’s tea garden is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a coffee and some breakfast with your fellow parkrunners.
Bryanston parkrun, Sandton
Situated right opposite the Riverside Shopping Centre, you won’t need to travel far in order to refuel your body after the Bryanston parkrun. Join your fellow runners at Chateau Gateaux Patisserie for a cuppa and a well-deserved slice of cake or a pastry. If you’re looking for something a little more nutritious, grab a table at the trusty Knead Bakery – their scrambled egg is top-notch.
Rietvlei parkrun, Alberton
Just Darling cafe in the Mall of the South is only minutes away from this parkrun finish – an ideal place for a breakfast pit-stop. If you’d prefer to stay outside, Lua – A Bakers Cafe and its cutesy courtyard is also just around the corner. Alternatively, you can join your fellow Rietvlei runners at the Lady Marmelade Tea Garden for a coffee.
