We look back and share our insights of what the month of June brought in terms of property compared to May.

Rise and Fall
Interest in the Durban area has dropped over the Winter season, with a decrease in viewings in the Durban North area (one of our most popular areas) over the last two months. Although there’s a been a drop in Durban, Cape Town remained strong with an increase in viewings of 116% despite the Winter season that often brings cold and wet conditions in the area, with no one wanting to leave the snugness of their homes.

Cape Town’s Central Business District areas has continued to maintain popularity with buyers even in the Winter months, properties also seemed to sell much quicker in these areas. Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs has shown increased popularity month on month, with areas like Century City, Parow and Flamingo Vlei leading the way and showing to be popular amongst potential buyers. Muizenberg remains stable with viewings.

Gauteng remained consistent month on month, although the Magaliesburg area has shown a decrease in viewings from last month, it still continues to spark interest amongst potential buyers.

Top Performers
Our top areas where viewings were scheduled in the month of June were all found in various parts of Cape Town and one in Gauteng; Bokaap & St Georges Mall (Cape Town’s Central Business District/CBD), Kensington (Gauteng), Oakdale (Northern Suburbs in Cape Town), and the Southern Peninsula, in Muizenberg.

What’s more…
Gauteng has shown an improvement of 160% month on month increase with regards to the number of offers to purchase placed on various properties in the Province. The Western Cape has shown improvement on offers to purchase with a 133% increase month on month. Western Cape properties have a higher percentage of their offers being accepted with 112% more offers accepted in the Western Cape than in Gauteng.
